This weekend Usk Brass Band were crowned the National Champions of Great Britain, 4th Section. This is in addition to the already titled Champion Band of Wales 2015.
This is a momentous achievement for the band, who until relatively recently hadn't been contesting. The band competed against eighteen other bands from across the UK, all of which would've qualified for the contest, by winning or coming runners up in the respective regions. Competition was extremely tough and the test piece titled 'Visions' by Dan Price was fiendish. This was certainly the toughest test Usk had come up against and required meticulously preparation before this huge event.
The contest was held at Cheltenham Racecourse, and over the weekend the band also enjoyed themselves at the 'Beach Themed' party in the evening.
Emotions where running high as we said goodbye to six of our members as they start University. They will all be missed, but surely there is no better send off than this...
On behalf of the whole of Usk Brass Band, we would like to thank everyone who supported us in our adventure to Cheltenham.
Unfortunately, we can't afford to party for too long as work now commences on the final contest of the year. Please keep following the website as well as our other social media platforms for updates.
