Usk Brass Band held a fundraising auction and free concert yesterday, on Saturday 26th April, in the Usk Conservative Club. Thanks to the generosity of both local donors and bidders, £1,474.87 was raised to support the Band's activities. The Band are grateful to Usk Mayor Alec Leathwood for being the auctioneer and to Usk Conservative Club for hosting the event. The evening was also an opportunity to encourage new players to consider joining theBand (see photo).
The following organisations kindly donated items for the auction to whom the Band is extremely appreciative: Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel and Spa, David Davies MP, Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel, King’s Head Hotel, Little Kickers, Neil Lewis and Son Butchers, New Court Hotel, Prime Cuts, Quinnell Candle Company, South Wales Police Driver Training Unit, Spar, Tredegar House National Trust property, Uskosteopathy, White Hart Village Inn, and the many individual donors.
Usk Brass Band are now looking forward to competing in the South East Wales Brass Band Association (SEWBBA) Festival in Merthyr Tydfil in May, the Usk Open Gardens and Usk Summer Festival in June/July, and their own Summer Concert on 12th July in the Memorial Hall, Usk.
